It is so common in our society to hear people say “my enemy has done this to me, my enemy has done that to me” even without knowing who the enemy really is.

Some even go labelling people that don't know anything about their plight as the the culprit.

But as long as as we have friends, we equally have enemies because our friends and people that know us are our enemies.

Jesus said in mark 12:30-31 that the second greatest commandment is

“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”

Your neighbour here doesn't mean the closest person next to your hour. Your neighbour here means anybody that comes your way or the people that you know.

So its better to regard our friend as neighbours.
Does regarding our friends as neighbours eliminate the possibility of having enemy? The answer is capital NO.

As soon as we regard our friends as our neighbours, and we love them just like ourself, there is just one enemy that we have, its called SIN
The bible says in Proverb 28:1 that

“the wicked flee when no man pursueth but the righteous are as bold as a lion”

The bible also says in 6:23 that

“The wages of sin is death...”

This death is not the kind of death we used to know, but this is a death while still living.
Some people are dead while still living, sin has made them so

And as soon as you flee from sin, you have become the anointed of God and no one or any enemy can hurt you. That is why the bible says in Psalm 105:18 that

“Touch not my anointed...”

It is also stated in 1 John 5:18 that

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself and that WICKED ONE TOUCHETH HIM NOT”

In summary, to know your enemies, you need to know your friends but as soon as you make your friends your neighbours and you love your neighbours as yourself, there is only one enemy that you have which you need to run away from, the enemy is SIN.
Just as it is said in James 4:7

“...Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”
