UNTIL THEN...

Nigeria is endowed with numerous cultural background and diverse spoken indigenous languages.
The moment the British empire successfully introduced their language (English) to us, they succeeded in giving us an uphill task as well as a bountiful blessing.

And the moment we made the British language our official language, we made the uphill task harder and we made the bountiful blessing more.
The uphill task is how to understand this new unfamiliar language and the bountiful blessing is UNITY that it will bring to us after understanding the language.

Until we start seeing ourselves as Nigerians first before seeing ourselves as Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, Egbira, Fulani, Efik, Ibiobio, Igala, e.t.c. before our country can develop.
We need to start recognizing ourselves as Nigerians first before any indigenous tribe.

When do we see ourselves as Nigerians?

We'll see ourselves as Nigerians when the language of Nigeria is understood by all the citizens. The language of Nigeria is English language.

When English language is understood is when;
the grandmothers at home know what national assembly, democracy, arms of government e.t.c are really all about.

this is when grandfathers at home know the simple law of demand and supply.

this is when the people know that the earth is spherical and not flat and there are other planets aside Nigeria.

This is a time when the followers (citizens) can understand what the leader (president) is saying at anytime 't' without the need of an interpreter. (The interpreter may alter some things said)

In short, this is when illiteracy is eradicated in our environment or is at the least minimum

How can we understand ourselves and be in one accord when we are all speaking different languages.
You can remember the tower of babel in the bible.
This is when the people tried to construct a building that will be so tall that it will reach heaven. They almost achieved this because they understood one language.
God destroyed their plans by making them not to understand one another anymore. He gave them different languages.
So the project was aborted.
The moral of this story of the bible is; If we don't understand ourselves, we cannot develop and grow.

Therefore, the earlier we understand ourselves with one language, the stronger we would be as a nation and the better for us.

But how can we achieve this?

We can only achieve this through GOOD & AFFORDABLE EDUCATION for the citizens.
So, until we have good and affordable education for the citizens, Nigeria cannot grow.
EDUCATION IS THE LIGHT OF THE NATION

UNTIL WHEN WE HAVE GOOD EDUCATION, THEN WE CAN HAVE INVENTION, INNOVATION AND MANUFACTURING TO CALL OUR OWN

It should be noted that while we are trying to learn and understand the lingua franca through education, we should not abandon our local indigenous language because this is our ROOT, this is where we COME FROM and this is our HERITAGE. It must not go into extinction.
The languages should be learnt side by side.
